Ask your employer to undertake a gender pay audit

I am yet to meet a person who thinks women should be paid less than men because of their gender, yet the pay gap today is between 16 and 19 per cent, just as it was in 1972. We have had equal pay laws, anti-discrimination laws, multiple inquiries by government agencies, positive campaigns and women entering the workforce in record numbers. Yet this gender pay gap persists. Why? The reasons are complex and straightforward.
