PWN’s successful Mentoring Program is one of the valued-added benefits for all our PWN Premium Members.  Research suggests that the support of a professional mentor is crucial  for success in our careers and development and we have successfully matched 30 of our Mentees with local mentors during 2022.  Our Mentors come with a diverse background of knowledge, skills and experience and volunteer to 'give back' to our community.

Whether you are seeking support from an experienced professional to help your career goals take shape, or you would like to gain experience as a Mentor, applying your expertise and knowledge, this program provides a unique opportunity.

Contact:  mentoring@pwnnice.net to arrange a convenient time to speak with our acting VP of Mentoring, Jacqui Syndercombe - whether you are interested in being a mentor, mentee or both.

    About the program:

The PWN Mentoring Program aim is 'to provide professionals with an opportunity to access high level support for their professional growth.’   The process involves:

Each mentee on the program receives ten mentoring sessions of approx 1-2 hours each meeting.  Student mentees  (from our partners EDHEC will receive 4 mentoring sessions to be able to accommodate the demands of their academic timetables).

We also offer quarterly meetups for both our Mentors and Mentees to be able to connect with others and learn from a variety of topics that support the mentoring process.

    What is mentoring?

According to the EMCC Definition of Mentoring “Mentoring is a learning relationship, involving the sharing of skills, knowledge, and expertise between a mentor and mentee through developmental conversations, experience sharing, and role modelling. The relationship may cover a wide variety of contexts and is an inclusive two-way partnership for mutual learning that values differences.”

New approaches to mentoring include, Peer or Parallel Mentoring, where two people are working together to reach a common goal, and also Reverse Mentoring, where a younger person is guiding an older and more experienced person in areas like technology, social media, and current trends.

There is no formal qualification to be a mentor. You only need to be willing to share personal experiences and knowledge and reflect deeply with the other person in a non-judgmental manner.

There will always be some cross-over with coaching and mentoring.

Who can participate as a mentee in PWN Nice-Côte d’Azur program?

In order to fully participate in the program, you must be a PWN Nice-Côte d’Azur Premium member. If you have not yet subscribed to our Premium membership plan, please see the details and register here. The cost is 110€ for the year.

    Who are the Mentors?

We invite local professionals - both men and women - to serve in the role of a mentor and share themselves for the benefit of professional women. Past and current mentors from the PWN Nice-Côte d’Azur  Mentoring Program have had a variety of professional backgrounds and provided mentoring on many topics – career transitions, increased self-confidence and self-esteem, effective communication, how to market yourself, improved leadership skills, etc. Mentors are welcome to participate without PWN membership.

Email our VP of Mentoring, Jacqui Syndercombe, at mentoring@pwnnice.net for further information.

Feedback testimonials  from some of our Mentors and Mentees:

I am really enjoying my mentoring sessions. Much more than I thought. I love putting things taught into practice. I also love the fact that I get to have 3 mentors as it gives me the opportunity to network with more people and learn their different styles. A big thanks to you!   Gillian Attard  (Mentee)

Working with Sherwood has surpassed all my expectations. When I started I was "just" looking for a means to adjust my speech in a way that I would be more effective on translating a thought to words. After our conversations, I did not only achieve this,  but I became much more conscious on what communication is and how I can mature this aspect within myself. As you can see I am more than happy and I will gladly recommend the mentoring program. Barbara Lemos  (Mentee)

I think this program is super useful for people ready to step back in their careers and be open to challenge themselves and got out of their comfort zone. It was also really interesting the fact that the match done between my mentor and myself was not exactly what I was expecting but it helps me a lot to learn.  Anna Penna  (Mentee)

I highly recommend the Mentoring Program by the PWN Côte d’Azur as a great opportunity for professional self-discovery and growth. Regardless of where we are in our careers, it is very valuable to have this external, open and experienced regard from where we can embrace change and work on a conscious action plan towards our goals. I thank my mentor Jackie for her time and support. I continue my journey with confidence, audacity and hope.  Thanks again!  Lizveth Robles Flórez  (Mentee)

My professional and uninvolved input allowed my mentee to clarify her future goals which were very different from those she started the sessions with. I am extremely happy this worked so well with her and a lot has to do with the fact she was the right kind of personality to be paired with me.  Jill Blumfield  (Mentor)

Being mentored by Cynthia was very helpful in exploring my options from corporate life to consultant with some board work on the side. Cynthia introduced the notion of “and” rather than “or” and that changed everything! Amanda Noz  (Mentee)

And photos captured during our Summer 2021 PWN Nice Cote d'Azur Party of some of our Mentors and Mentees together!
