Mentoring Program

2024 INDIVIDUAL MENTORING - January 2024 - November 2024

PWN’s successful Mentoring Program is one of the valued-added benefits for all our PWN Premium Members.  Research suggests that the support of a professional mentor is crucial  for success in our careers and development and we have successfully matched 25 of our Mentees with local mentors during 2022.  Our Mentors come with a diverse background of knowledge, skills and experience and volunteer to 'give back' to our community.

Whether you are seeking support from an experienced professional to help your career goals take shape, or you would like to gain experience as a Mentor, applying your expertise and knowledge, this program provides a unique opportunity.

About the program:

The PWN Mentoring Program's aim is 'to provide professionals with an opportunity to access high level support for their professional growth.’   This year we will be asking the mentors and mentees to match themselves.  Below we have published our mentor profiles so that potential mentees can peruse them to see who has the experience which would best help them.  On 9 November, they will have the opportunity to meet Mentors in person . Please note that you do not have to be a member of PWN to attend the event on the 9th November.  However, to apply to become a mentee, the person will need to sign up as a Premium Member.

The planning is as follows:

9 October:  Mentors and Mentees can start to register for the informal Mentor/Mentee event on 9 November.  To register for the event click here.

9 November 2023: An informal event to meet mentors and the start of  applications

30 November 2023: Applications close

December 2023: Selection of mentees and confirmation of mentor/mentee matching

Mid January 2024: Kick off event

June 2024: Mid year event

November 2024: end of 2024 mentoring programme

Each mentee on the program receives ten mentoring sessions of approx 1-2 hours each meeting.  Student mentees  (from our partners EDHEC will receive 4 mentoring sessions to be able to accommodate the demands of their academic timetables).

We will hold quarterly mentor meetups so that mentors can get to know each other and learn together.  There are also workshops on a variety of topics throughout the year which support the mentoring process.  These are open to all members.

What is mentoring?

According to the EMCC Definition of Mentoring “Mentoring is a learning relationship, involving the sharing of skills, knowledge, and expertise between a mentor and mentee through developmental conversations, experience sharing, and role modelling. The relationship may cover a wide variety of contexts and is an inclusive two-way partnership for mutual learning that values differences.”

New approaches to mentoring include, Peer or Parallel Mentoring, where two people are working together to reach a common goal, and also Reverse Mentoring, where a younger person is guiding an older and more experienced person in areas like technology, social media, and current trends.

There is no formal qualification to be a mentor. You only need to be willing to share personal experiences and knowledge and reflect deeply with the other person in a non-judgmental manner.

There will always be some cross-over with coaching and mentoring.

Who can participate as a mentee in PWN Nice-Côte d’Azur program?

In order to fully participate in the program, you must be a PWN Nice-Côte d’Azur Premium member. If you have not yet subscribed to our Premium membership plan, please see the details and register here. The cost is 120€ for the year.
